Serene Path Travels
About SERENE PATH TOURS (PVT) LTD

An operator that answers
to the Saṅgha first.

Serene Path Travels arranges Buddhist pilgrimage and practice journeys in Sri Lanka. We are a Sri Lankan company working in a Buddhist country with a living monastic tradition — not a wellness brand that has borrowed its vocabulary.

Our vision

To make Sri Lanka the world’s most authentic destination for Buddhist spiritual transformation.

Our mission

To offer genuine, respectful and life-changing Buddhist experiences rooted in Buddha Dhamma, while supporting monastic communities and preserving Sri Lanka’s spiritual heritage.

Core values FOUR COMMITMENTS

Four commitments, and one of them is a refusal.

The Dhamma
is not
· for sale ·

Respect for the Buddha, Dhamma and Saṅgha

The sites we visit are places of live worship, not attractions. We follow the temple’s rules, the monastery’s timetable, and the Saṅgha’s guidance — never the other way round.

Mindfulness and compassion (mettā)

Small groups, unhurried days, and time built in for sitting rather than photographing. Mettā is extended to our drivers and guides as much as to our guests.

Sustainability and simplicity

Fewer places, longer stays, local kitchens, and no itinerary that treats the island as a checklist. Simplicity is the practice, not the budget option.

Non-commercialisation of the Dhamma

We charge for travel, guiding and logistics. We do not charge for teaching, and we do not package the Dhamma as a product. No monk is ever paid to appear.

What this means in practice THE DIFFERENCE, CONCRETELY

A value you cannot see in the itinerary is not a value.

Every company writes that it is respectful and sustainable. Here is what ours actually changes about the journey you would take with us.

01

We do not sell teaching

When a bhikkhu gives a Dhamma talk to your group, no part of your payment reaches him for it. Teaching in this tradition is given, not sold, and a monk who is paid to teach is in an impossible position. What we do instead is offer dāna — the meal, the requisites, the temple's costs — which is how lay Buddhists have supported the Saṅgha for two and a half thousand years. You will be shown how to make that offering yourself.

02

The monastery's day sets the schedule

Where we stay at or visit a monastery, we arrive and leave when the monastery says, keep silence when the monastery keeps silence, and eat when the community eats — which in most cases means nothing solid after midday. We will tell you this before you book, not on arrival.

03

Small groups, and we mean small

Pilgrimage groups are kept small enough to enter a shrine room without filling it and to sit together without needing a microphone. A coach-load of forty people cannot be quiet at Sri Maha Bodhi, so we do not run one.

04

No urgency, no discounts, no reviews theatre

You will not find a countdown timer, a "3 people are viewing this" badge, a struck-through price, or a wall of five-star ratings on this website. Those devices work, which is exactly why we will not use them to sell a pilgrimage. Ask us questions instead; we will answer them properly.

05

Fewer places, longer stays

Our itineraries move less than most. Anurādhapura alone holds six of the sixteen sacred places, and seeing them in a single morning is not seeing them. Longer stays also mean less road, fewer emissions, and money that stays in the town you slept in.

The company FACTS ON RECORD

Serene Path Tours (Pvt) Ltd

We are a private limited company registered in Sri Lanka, working across the whole island: the Cultural Triangle in the north-central dry zone, the hill country, the deep south, and the Jaffna peninsula for the crossing to Nāgadīpa.

Correspondence reaches a person, not a queue. WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach us, and we would rather plan a journey with you over several weeks of questions than confirm one in an afternoon. That is the right pace for this.

Ask us for our company registration and tourism licence details, and for the name of the guide who would lead your journey. We would rather give you those directly than print a list of numbers.

There is no booking engine here and no payment page. A pilgrimage is arranged in conversation — write, call, or message us on WhatsApp and a person will answer.
